My Experience : I’ve to be honest with you, I wasn’t quite a drugstore foundation person. But after starting this beauty blog I found out that most people love reading about drugstore face products, this made be do more research on these products and the process converted me into a complete drugstore makeup addict ;)
Coming back to L’oreal True Match Foundation, I got this in two versions (2 different shades) one the Indian version (W2) and the other one from USA (N3).
I found that the shade W2 is a perfect match or you can say its my true match in fact it matches me better than my MAC Studio Fix Fluid which has always been a bit off to me. If you get the right shade you will completely fall in love with this foundation.
This foundation has medium to buildable coverage. The finish is satin to matte (shake the bottle well before you use it). When you apply it you will never struggle to blend it out like other foundations (Colorstay) in fact True Match is so fool proof that you can use your hands and still get a flawless airbrushed finsh. I apply it with stippling brush since it blends the foundation well and doesn’t make it go streaky (use good quality brush – real techniques!). Whereas flat foundation brush: doesn’t blend well and leaves many streaks. After you apply and let it set it gives a pretty natural finish, to get a true matte finish I use Maybelline Dream Matte Powder which goes amazing with this foundation.
It goes on really smooth with just the right amount of coverage and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It has very thin formulation but very pigmented so it blends well into the skin. If you find a perfect shade it will be hard for anyone to tell that you have makeup on.
Now L’Oreal claims that this foundation is for all skin types and that is with a few exceptions. If you have Dry to Normal skin this foundation will be perfect it’s not heavy and you can customize the coverage just make sure you moisturize very well if your skin is very dry as it tends to cling to dry patches but this problem can be fixed with moisturizer. Now for my Very Oily beauties this might work for you or it might be a disaster. So if you’re super-oily skin type person you have to apply some oil controlling primer.
I love the fact that it has nice yellow tones that really match me perfectly. It doesn’t oxidize on my skin which is a boon. This foundation lives up to its name of being truly super blendable which I love the most.
Texture : Silky.
Fragrance : Mild fragrance.
Lasting Power : 8 hours wear when set with powder.
Packaging : Asian version – Easy to use pump and sturdy glass bottle.
How To Apply : Dot foundation onto cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. Using fingers or a makeup sponge, blend foundation out towards hairline and down. For a professional-looking application, use a foundation brush to blend foundation. To set foundation and prolong wear, dust translucent powder on top of foundation.
Removal : Makeup wipes or face cleanser
Result : Gives a natural Finish that isn’t too matte or dewy its like that fresh face look we all love !
Pros :) :)
-Great coverage
-Awesome range of shades
-Oil Free
-Doesn’t break me out
-Price point

Cons :( :(
– Can make you look oily if you don’t set with powder.
Will I repurchase ? Yes ! I definitey recommend it and will buy it again.

I have used it in the past. Didn’t find it oily, quite the opposite. But then, it could be my skin. It’s a good foundation none-the-less. Nice review. :)

Hi gorgeous!! I think you shluod do whatever your heart desires with your hair. If you want to go dark, go dark. With your features it will look so exotic! I am actually going through a similar phase. My hair has been fairly light for years now and I am curious how I’d look with dark color. I wish they sold it in the US :-/
