Hello Beauties ,
I’m back with a review of MAC lipstick. Captive is part of MAC’s permanent line and is readily available in MAC local counters. If you’re bored with your straight up red lipsticks but still want to look alluring without being too much, this color is a nice choice.
Product Claims : Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous.
Price : India – Rs 990, USA – $15.00 for 3 g
Packaging : traditional black packaging.
My Experience –
I’m already a huge MAC Lipstick junkie- I really think they win the award for the best lipsticks because of the range of colours, textures and their amazing quality.
Seriously speaking I wasn’t sure what to expect the first time I wore captive as although it looked gorgeous in the tube it was a lot brighter than I would normally wear! On the lips I was surprised as it looked incredibly gorgeous. Bright but not in your face bright, plus you could just put a swipe on for more toned down lips or layer it up for a more vibrant look.
I don’t love matte finish lipstick by any means but I can understand and appreciate why people fall so hard for the Satin Matte formula. MAC Satin Lipstick is a very timeless, classic look. Even if you dislike mattes with a passion you can definitely acknowledge this formula as something special. The lipstick formula has a soft, creamy texture which glides on very easily. The consistency does have the drier texture of a matte but when worn it doesn’t accentuate drier areas and wears for a good solid six hours before losing some of its intensity. The color is very gorgeous and even after eating a burger and drinking water the lipstick looked fresh.
I think that Captive is maybe a little on the dark side for me but it creates a good night out look and if you blot your lips after applying it, it leaves a nice wine colored stain on your lips. I’ve gotten more compliments on captive than anything else I’ve tried.
Color : MAC Captive is pinkish plum color and is almost like a wine color. This shade is definitely my favorite, just because its so “me” yet is still a tad bold.
Texture/ Finish : The texture of the lipstick is super smooth and creamy. I feel the texture is very lightweight and I don’t feel it’s sucking moisture from lips. Granted, it isn’t adding any moisture either but it isn’t making my lips any drier upon application.
Pigmentation : I love the satin finish because it is adequately creamy without any shimmer or frost in it. The pigmentation is great and the colour is very rich. It takes about one swipe to cover my pigmented lips.
Staying Power : Lasts on lips quite well as when it wears off you get left with a pretty stained lip colour. Great staying power, easily lasts up to 5-6 hours.
