My Experience ?
I am a big lip junkie and like most of the girls I own Revlon, L’Oreal, Maybelline and MAC lipsticks. But still I never owned any Rimmel lipstick. I heard a lot of positive reviews about Apocalips line, so I decided to jump into the bandwagon and try it for myself. This was a random and unplanned purchase. In my previous Holiday Makeup Haul post I mentioned about these two lovely Rimmel Lip Lacquers and promised to review them ASAP.
My first reaction on seeing Apocalips on the Rimmel counter was “I want them all”. I was lucky that I got a chance to swatch and select my favourite colours before buying. The lipcolor comes in a black tube with a curved sponge tip applicator. The sponge tip makes the lip Lacquer application smooth and easy.
One thing I love about this lippie is that even after giving such a opaque coverage it doesn’t settle in fine lines. Doesn’t accentuate the cracks in my lips or anything like that; in fact, if applied very lightly. Its non-sticky creamy texture feels comfortable and light weight on lips.
The next thing I love is that the color stays put for 5-6 hours on me and leaves a lovely stain after that. Yes it does transfers on my sandwich and while sipping coffee but I tend to ignore that. The lip colour has a funny taste and smell, I can describe that as faint candy smell. Rimmel Apocalips are a great lip product and alternative to the tradition lip glosses or lipsticks.
Overall, I absolutely love this product. It lasts long, the colour pay off is incredible, and it looks great on me! I am not a Rimmel gal but I am totally sold!
BnB Tips :
- make sure to exfoliate and moisturise your lips before application for that perfectly coloured lips.
- I find that it can transfer and feather if you apply too much. Only a little bit is required as it is very pigmented.
Shade : 101 Celestial is a pretty warm pink colour. As it wears off, the colour is still tinted on the lips so you’ll always look as though you’re wearing something on your lips. The colour will look great if paired with blue or purple smokey eyes. For ladies who want to play it safe or who is wanting a lip colour for days when you are wearing minimal makeup there is Celestial !
Pigmentation : The colour pigmentation is fantastic and therefore the vibrant colour in the bottle is the colour that you got on your lips with no need for layering.
Texture / Formula : It feels non-sticky, creamy and lightweight upon application. The formula is neither moisturising nor drying for me. The super smooth formula glides onto the lips effortlessly, and in one swipe, you get an opaque and vibrant colour payoff.
Staying Power : Blotting the color after application is recommended if you want the color to stay longer. I found that the colour could last up to 6 hours without touch up but reapplication was needed each time I ate something.
