MAC Eye shadow Woodwinked Review, Swatch and EOTD
This post is a long overdue and I am quite excited that I’m finally reviewing MAC Woodwinked. I’ve had this little eyeshadow for some time, but it’s been hiding away in a box waiting to be discovered. Well I discovered it on New Year’s Eve – I like to think of it as my little treat for the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014.
Price : USA – $14.50, India – INR 900, UK – £12.50
Product Details : Highly-pigmented powder. Applies evenly, blends well.
My Thoughts ?
I bought this because of the raving reviews but was afraid it would look like shimmery orange on me. Lets find out if I liked it or not…
How I like to wear it:
I’ll describe Woodwinked as a beautiful golden bronzed shade. I usually use a eye primer but, I’m honest with this I don’t need one. I love this either all over the lid or in the outer corner blended into the crease. Currently I wear Woodwinked with either the Balm Seductive Eyeshadow or mac All that Glitters. If I want the look to be more subtle I go for a matte beige /brown colour all over lids and Woodwinked on the outer half blended in crease. I also like wearing it with black eyeshadow and smuged liner to create smokey eyes. It creates the most glamorous, yet wearable, smokey eye that you can wear virtually anywhere with anything.
Add black liquid liner (I like to flick mine into a subtle cat-eye) and add mascara for the perfect look!
BnB Tip : Don’t apply too much it will highlight wrinkles and fine lines. Apply a couple of sheer layers.
About Color/ Shade :
I describe ‘Woodwinked’ as a medium bronze with a warm orange undertone once applied. It is a Veluxe Pearl finish which has shimmer to it but its finely milled so its perfect daily wear eyeshadow. It looks great in natural day light as well as in artificial lights. This shade looks absolutely gorgeous on my NC35 eyelids all by itself and makes my eyes stand out.
The eyeshadow comes in black container which has a flip up lid attached with the case. The packaging is sturdy and travel friendly, I just adore the packaging. BnB Tip : You can also buy refill pan which will cost you less.
Texture / Formula :
Its very easy to work with… I just adore the soft, buttery texture. I also like how Woodwinked is a Veluxe Pearl, so it’s not too frosty and not too Matte, and the colour makes it perfect to use as a wash, or adding to basically any look to give a hint of gold shimmer without being too obvious, especially since it blends so well. Veluxe pearl is one of my favourite finishes-its so smooth and high quality.
The only problem with pigmented eyeshadows is fallout… but luckly this one has no fallout. The pigmentation is just amazing. One swipe is enough to get the right amount of shade on your lids. Two swipes give intense colour.
BnB tip : If you are using woodwinked as your lid color just pat it using a flat stiff eyeshadow brush.
Staying Power :
Woodwinked stays on my oily lids for a good 6 hours without any creasing or fading which is a wow factor for me. It stays on for a whole day of work if I use mac painterly paint pot as a primer/base (review coming soon).
Final Verdict : Loved It It is beautiful and pigmented colour with great staying power. I would repurchase!
