My Experience :

This review is not about just any highlighter. NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross is considered as the ‘baap’ of all the highlighters. And for a good reason as well. The highlighter, though classified as a blush, has a cult following in the makeup world. No list of must-have highlighters would be complete without including NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross. And there is a very high probability that it will be the reigning king of the list.

NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross Review

NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross is described as ‘sheer, light golden sheen’ by the company. Though in the first look, this highlighter will pass as a boring white eye shadow lookalike. But, when you swatch your heartbeat will stop for a second, if you are a true highlighter fan. NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross can be best described if I break the color into two parts – the base and the glow. The base is a pale ivory, which leans towards cool tones and the glow is a gorgeous muted golden sheen with yellow undertones. This highlighter is the perfect balance of both cool and warm undertones. It is neither too pink nor too warm. And that is why I am sure, it will suit mostly all the skin tones. Though the combination of both the tones makes it tricky as well. It would be best to first sample it if you are either very pale or deep. On my medium skin tone with slight warm undertones, it looks beautiful. And so glowy!!!

NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross has a very creamy and smooth texture. In fact, the highlighter does not have any powdery feel to it. And nor it is very dense, so that you have to swipe it couple of times. It translates into a healthy, luminous sheen on the cheeks unlike a shimmery or frosted shine. The highlighter does not emphasize any dry patches or pores in a big way and blends very easily. You can use it lightly for a natural look or amp it up to glow beautifully. Since the highlighter does not have any evident base color of its own and mainly appears as a golden sheen on the cheeks, it is the best highlighter to pair with any matte blush to add glow to the face.

NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross is superbly pigmented. Though you should never go overboard with any product, but I feel going overboard with this highlighter is not a big mistake. One swipe gives you enough sheen on the face. And even if you layer it, the only thing which you get is super sheen and no color. Which will not spoil your look in a major way, except make you look super glowy. The highlighter is long wearing. It keeps on looking its shiny self for 7-8 hours. And even after that, you can still detect the faded sheen.

NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross comes in a rectangular compact with a mirror. The outer body is black in color and has a matte finish. Though it looks super sleek, you can easily spot dust and finger prints on it after a while. The mirror is of good size and extremely helpful if you are travelling with it. There is no brush or sponge provided for the application.

NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross Review

NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross is my favorite highlighter on all days. But, more so when my skin is looking dull and dry. The blush gives a surreal glow, without majorly emphasizing any imperfections.
