tanu weds manu returns

After the sleeper hit Tanu Weds Manu comes this fiery sequel from the Anand L Rai camp. Known to create larger than life stories hailing from small towns, Tanu Weds Manu Returns has the makings of a blockbuster. Kangna Ranaut flits in an out of her double role seamlessly and floors every one. While all the actors have given more than commendable performances, it is this bombshell who takes the cake! A complete entertainer, TWMR is full paisa vasool.

Tanuja Trivedi/Tanu (Kangna Ranaut) is thoroughly disappointed as her marriage turns out to be nothing close to their exciting courtship. Settled in London with her doctor husband Manoj Sharma/Manu (Madhavan) their relationship has slowly lost its charm. While marriage is more often a new beginning as opposed to the ‘happy ending’ it is touted to be, Tanu realises that she doesn’t find Manu appealing anymore. She isn’t willing to put in the hard work that is required to sustain and maintain a marriage. They part ways in a metal asylum and we are transported back to Kanpur.

Back in her hometown, Tanu is now faced with her earlier lover Raja (Jimmy Shergill) who to her delight, is single still! Another suitor shows up in the form of Chintu (Zeeshan Ayyub) who doesn’t think that her marital status can come in the way of her freedom. While Tanu’s life is full of drama again, Manu bumps into Kusum/Datto (Kangna) a Haryanvi athlete who looks like Tanu but is a firecracker in herself. Datto is secure, honest and doesn’t back out on her word. From a boisterous tomboy to a docile woman aware of her attractiveness, she takes you easily through her transition. Madhavan is just as adorable, he lights up the screen!

tanu weds manu review

This love story crops up and blossoms so seamlessly that you are bound to feel the first flush of love on your cheeks too. Kangna is refreshing and Zeeshan Ayyub hits a boundary with his performance! His referral of Tanu as Batman is quite stirring, after all, how many heroines are referred as super heroes? Jimmy Shergill ups the badass quotient and makes you wonder why he is one of the most underrated Bollywood actors.

A new age concept thoroughly and hilariously executed with brilliance, Anand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma have taken the film to a whole new level. A great screenplay coupled with a great music score, Tanu Weds Manu Returns will make you believe in second time lucky!

Bottomline: Defying the law of diminishing returns, it is a double delight from Kangana.

How does she do it!- Kangna Ranaut wins all hearts!

BnB Rating : 4/5
