BeneFit cosmetics is a quite spectacular brand. Most of the products I tried from this brand haven’t failed to impress me. POREfessional Primer and BeneTint are my ultimate favorites. Although these days I’m gravitating more towards highlighter and ditching tints and matte bases.
Highlighting has long been the tool of makeup artists; it was one of the runway model’s flawless complexion secrets. Even now, professional artists rely more on contouring and highlighting. Good highlighters can give us radiant complexion by creating illusion of healthy skin.
In July when I was testing some highlighters I came across this little bottle from BeneFit and now that I tried it for over a month I’m all set to review it and get into nitty gritty details of High Beam face highlighter….
Price: USA – $26, UK- £ 19.50, India -INR 2665
Product Name : Benefit High Beam face highlighter
What Is High Beam? BeneFit High Beam is a liquid highlighter that gives your skin dewy, radiant glow.
My Thoughts about Benefit High Beam?
It’s tricky finding a perfect highlighter, especially here in India, were brands like Becca and Hourglass don’t exists, making the overall highlighting business more complicated. With limited options it becomes more difficult to find ideal shade that can suit your skin-tone. But its great that globally companies are making highlighters for varying complexions.
My standard expectation from a highlighter is to give my skin a touch of light without making me look like a glittery disco ball. For my daily makeup routine I don’t have inclination or time to contour, so mixing liquid highlighter in my base products works well for me.
Even-though High Beam is a hyped product you can see many negative reviews complaining about the application process. I suggest making few changes in the way you blend this product ( knowledge comes from experimenting & lot of makeup disasters)
When you apply High Beam over foundation you can feel little dampness on your skin, I recommend using this before setting makeup with any powder otherwise the whole look can get spoiled. Try working with little product & blend it with a dry sponge. It looks beautiful after it sets dry and gives your skin enough boost of radiance without looking OTT. The white pinkish tone will start fading as you blend the product.
Our Expert Tips:
- Mix one drop of high beam with two drops of foundation for a beautiful dewy flush and natural radiant look.
- If you’re using it to accentuate your cheekbones use after foundation and set it with a translucent powder.
How Should I Use It?
Dot the product and use your fingers to blend. You can also use dry beauty blender or dry sponge to blend it evenly.
How I Wear It?
I normally mix it with my CC or BB cream. On special occasions I use it after foundation and concealer on my upper Cheeks, Nose Bridge, and on my Brow Bone to highlight. On its own it makes my skin look dewy. For my every day routine I just dab a bit on center of my face and blend it in with my fingers/dry sponge. During winters it finds a place in my daily makeup routine.
Shade: High Beam has a subtle pink tone which I find perfect to light up any skin-tone. It has no glitter and looks natural.
Texture: This highlighter is liquid in texture and that makes it quite troublesome to work with, especially after setting your makeup. Although if blended and applied properly it looks terrific on any complexion.
Finish/ Effect: It offers subtle glow without overloading the skin with light and glitter. It truly does add nice radiance to my skin which makes me look more awake.
Staying Power: It is a long-wearing product that stays on my skin for over 8 hours. It looks fresh even after my base product start fading away.
Packaging: High Beam comes in a cute little bottle. It has a tiny applicator and the packaging is very similar to any standard nail polish bottle. The transparent bottle makes it easy to see how much product is left.
Benefit High Beam is my current favorite highlighter. If you get the application part correctly you will love it for the natural dewy finish and subtle glow. Will surely re-purchase this bottle.
