The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer Aka The Luminizer (Highlighter) -Review, Swatches and FOTD
(Author ~ Surabhi )
Hello beautiful girls,
Today I will be reviewing the most important product in my vanity bag- theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer! I was in a lookout for a good quality highlighter, be it in liquid or powder base. I previously have used a luminizer from Colorbar- it was really good no doubt but the pen mechanism was a total fail!
theBalm Cosmetics have some really good products and I thought of investing in a good quality highlighter from the brand. Read on to know more about it
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: TheBalm® Mary-Lou Manizer is a compressed powder based highlighter with a hint of golden minute shimmer which looks totally natural. It can also be used as an eye shadow.
PRICE: USA – $24; India: I got it for INR 2,490 from Amazon.in (0.3 ounce). It took almost 25 days to deliver as it had to be shipped from Chicago! But yes, it was totally worth it.
MY EXPERIENCE :
I totally LOVE the packaging!! It has a girl’s face printed on the lid with really funny wordings written under it. Infact, all the products from TheBalm Cosmetics have similar funky prints on them which make them look totally attractive.
TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer comes in a flip open plastic sleek case similar to the compact powder cases. It has a mirror in the inner side of the lid making it easier for you to quickly apply whenever needed. The lid fits really tight and is totally travel-friendly. I carry it around in my handbag all the time and it has never opened on its own.
I totally adore how amazing the shade is- honey-goldenish colour which would suit almost any skin tone; including the fairest of all the girls to the darker ones. This is the biggest plus point of this highlighter! The honey coloured luminizer gives the perfect hint of glow without looking overly shimmery.
The texture is just like any other compact powder- soft and smooth. I totally love the way it bends into my skin evenly without any patchiness. Due to its soft and smooth texture, it can easily be blended with fingertips or a powder/blush brush.
The Luminizer has a really faint and mild chemical smell. Frankly speaking, the fragrance is almost negligible as I had to totally dig my nose into the case to smell it. It won’t bother you at all as the smell remains only in the case and disappears outside it.
How I use and staying powder:
I use this product at the end of my makeup, just to highlight my cheekbones and brow bones. I simply swipe my powder brush (Colorbar) in the highlighter, tap away the excess and blend it on my skin. You can also use your fingertips.
This particular highlighter gives a subtle glow which looks really natural- no chunky shimmery particles at all! I was totally amazed at the staying power; it stays almost all day long with light fading but still you would see a subtle glow on your cheeks!
I have oily skin and this powder highlighter still stays intact. I am very much sure that it would last even more with a primer on.
