Whether you did celebrate Diwali or not, one thing I am sure is that all of you (just like me) did hoard on a lot of makeup, in name of festival season sales! And with makeup comes a responsibility to take care of your skin and to keep those pesky breakouts at bay–and this is where our little TBS baby comes to play!
Ok when was the last time you got your hands over your favorite waterproof mascara, or that scrumptious long staying lipstick which you so badly lusted over? And upon the first application, you felt all dolled up–but at the end of the day, when you struggled with getting the last bit of mascara off from your lashes and detested it like never before? Yes, we have all been there, done that! I wish I had this bad boy from The Body shop earlier!
Keep on scrolling to know more about my love-hate relationship with this cleansing butter from TBS!
Name: The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter
Price: India -INR 895; USA – $16
Quantity: 90 ml
Availability: Available easily across all TBS outlets
Ingredients: Anthemis nobilis flower extract or as is the common name- Chamomile extract is one of the main ingredients along with shea butter and sunflower seed oil, so you can know it is bound to be very moisturising! It’s Shea butter, ladies! Secondly, I have learnt through internet, of course, that chamomile extract has anti-inflammatory properties, but trust me it will not irritate the skin!
One thing which I think is worth bringing to your notice is that one of the ingredients in the butter is Ethylhexyl palmitate, which (as internet says) can work as an eye-irritant for some! However, that is an exceptional case as this particular ingredient is quite commonly used in most cosmetics and skincare!
Packaging– The TBS camomile sumptuous cleansing butter comes in a sturdy, white and silver tin packaging with a screw-top lid! The tin tub can feel a bit bulky because of the material used but nevertheless it does not cease from looking classy and all that jazz! The lid shuts down quite reliably, making it a safe, travel-friendly option for a makeup remover! One thing which i do like is that the tub itself has all the details, ranging from the manufacturing and expiry dates, to how to use, to ingredients and the prices written very clearly at the backside if the tub!
Texture– Like all cleansing butters, this one also has a very balmy, almost waxy kind of texture! One look at the tub and i dreaded an oily kind of film on my face! But i was so wrong! Very comparable to the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Butter, which retails fir about 1900 bucks for 125ml of product, TBS camomile has a very similar balm like texture! The Clinique one is said to transform from a solid balm a “silky oil” kind of a texture, and i have no better words to explain how the TBS butter works!
How to use:
“Apply to dry face and massage into skin. Rinse off with warm water or remove with a wet muslin cloth for a more thorough cleanse.”
TBS wants us to use a cloth to get off all the residue after using the butter for a thorough cleanse, and I could not agree any less! Just like any cleansing balm, take a scoopful of the product, warm it up in between your fingers and massage it onto the skin! No rigorous movements, just massage it in very gentle circular motions and the butter will break up your makeup in a jiffy! Rinse it off with a soft muslin cloth dipped in some warm water, or you can even use cotton swabs and wet tissues to take off the residue! But I personally have a bit oily skin, and I prefer using a traditional oil-free foaming face wash after rinsing the butter off my face in order to get a squeaky clean skin with no trace of oil!
How effective is it?
If you read the intro to this review carefully, you are most probably aware of what I have to say! Be it the toughest if the mascaras, the mattest of the matte lipsticks, the shimmeriest of the shimmery highlighters and blushes, the most pigmented of the bronzers or the most long staying foundations and concealers; this bad boy does not let anyone stand in front of him!
Though a thorough mascara removal may take a bit more effort, time and product; but I can assure you that you will have no traces of mascara left on your lower lash line once it is off!
Does it sting or break out the skin?
The answer to breaking out is a big no, as this product cleans up even the last bit of the makeup from your pores so there is no chance of clogging which in turn leads to acne! Secondly, coming to the stinging the skin part; i personally haven’t experience any such stinging or irritation on the skin! One thing which I did experience that this cleansing butter did gave me one of those temporary foggy visions which most cleansers generally do to me! But my area of concern is that it stings my eyes even when i use it while keeping my eyes closed! Maybe its just me, but yes, that is what it is!
