L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner
(Author ~ Sanchita )
Hello everyone. Hope all of you is in pink of your health. Last festival and holiday season and the constant use of hair dryer, straightener and curler on my dry and already damaged hair has reached its peak and looks almost lifeless now. The sudden realization of special care has finally hit me and I am looking for ‘protein’ based or crème based shampoo to save the hair as much as I can.
After using dozen of average shampoos for dry and dull hair, I have stumbled upon the L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Smoothing combo which claims to have the combination of Argan Oil and Silk protein. These two words were enough to draw my attention and I immediately bought it.
Read on to know how the combo fared with me.
- Shampoo – 55 INR for 75ml
- Conditioner – 80 INR for 65ml
My Experience :
To begin with, I have dry hair which has been abused and damaged to a large extent. They are practically lifeless now so I am using a concoction of castor and coconut oil for 6-8hours pre-shampooing my hair.
Packaging – the shampoos come in various sizes and I bought the smallest one to try out which lasted around 20days for me and a month with the conditioner. The range has a vibrant orange bottles which I really liked. The bottle are slightly broad and slim with a flip open cap that works perfectly. I love the slim bottles which is very easy to store and travel with. Overall, it was a vibrant and sturdy packaging and I liked it very much.
Color, Consistency and Smell – the color of the shampoo is white while the conditioner is towards orangish beige. The shampoo has a normal refreshing aroma that is mild and stays for 1day maximum. The conditioner has an amazing scent, very different from the shampoo and I absolutely love it. The scent is perfect and will not hurt the sensitive nose at all. The shampoo has a quite a runny consistency like any other shampoo. The conditioner, however, is thick and resembles the consistency of a hair mask. That is why you need lesser amount than usual.
Shampoo – apart from the beautiful smell that the shampoo imparts, I liked the fact that it lathers well. If you hair is heavily coated with oil then you need minimum 2-3washes according to the length and volume. For my medium length hair, it takes 3 complete washes to wash off every layer of oil, dirt and grime. The shampoo, unlike others, takes a lot of time to rinse and I felt that it a bit time consuming. The shampoo does very less for my frizziness and I have only noticed very low amount of moisturized. It does thoroughly cleanse the scalp of dirt and grime and any thin layer of dandruff. I don’t suffer from dandruff so I won’t be able to judge on it. The hair looks slightly shiny but the shine vanishes within 2-3days. The claim of stronger hair is rue as I noticed the hairfall reduction to a large extent. Overall, the shampoo is good for a daily use but only for normal hair with less dryness. The big claims of nourishment won’t work on dry and damaged hair.
Conditioner – the conditioner, being thick, is easier to apply and spread on drenched hair. I keep the hair soaked in conditioner for around 5-6min to work properly. The conditioner works better with its own variant than any other shampoo. It helps in controlling the frizz and smoothens slightly which stays for maximum 1-2days depending on weather. I didn’t notice any kind of hydration for my dry hair. It only works for normal hair in my opinion. Overall, an average conditioner and nothing extraordinary.
OVERALL – the combo works average for dry hair and good for normal hair. The effect stays for 2-3days and after that you would require another wash.
WHAT I LIKED
- Lovely packaging and travel friendly.
- Good consistency to work with.
- Both the products have lovely smell.
- Cleanses scalp well.
- Controls hairfall.
- Good combo for normal hair with less dryness.
- Budget friendly.
WHAT I DISLIKED
- Frizz control factor is low for dry hair.
BnB RATING – 3/5 (Shampoo : 3/5, Conditioner 3.5/5)
RECOMMENDATION – If you have normal hair, this would be a perfect pick for daily use and is quite mild also. However, for dry hair, I believe they require more moisturization and frizz control elements.
