Kryolan Translucent Powder Review : Shade TL2
(Author ~ Sanchita)
As we have always heard how the foundation needs to be set with a powder to prevent creasing and melting, I always used to go for compact ones. Well, I have learnt my mistake. Watching an elaborate video on makeup basics made me realize that I have been doing this all wrong. From that day onwards, I always reached out for loose powders to set the makeup.
I am NC 30 with warm undertones. To brighten up the whole effect, I wanted something like the Ben Nye Banana Powder, but as it is not available in India I went with the closest Kryolan one. I wanted the shade TL4 but it wasn’t available so the impulsive makeup girl within me went for the next possible yellow i.e. TL2.

Here’s the detailed review on the product…
PRICE – 400 INR for 20g
Packaging – The powder comes in a small round tub with the screw lid. Inside, it has a separator with small significant holes to take off the product. The separator is extremely strong and I literally broken a nail to take it off (yeah, weird curiosity!). So, even if by any accidental way you drop it, chances are less that it will crack open. Even the holes are small but still it does become a bit messy like all loose powder. I feel they should have given a sponge or light brush with it, which was missing. All in all, the packaging fares well and decent.
Shade – the shade TL2 is a pale yellow color. As it is a translucent one, when it is applied – it doesn’t look as if you have yellow patch on skin but merely brightens the effect. The brightening effect is slightly low because my skin already has an inbuilt yellow undertone and hence a deeper color would have been better. For under eyes, this is a great shade if you go through some serious dark circle and pigmentation issue. I would recommend the shade for NC 15-30 for the brightening effect without any gaudy look.
Texture – the powder very fine milled and extremely easy to work with. It is very close to MAC Prep + Prime (mind you, not a dupe) in terms of texture and hence great for beginners as well. Due to the texture, a lot of product is wasted also if you are no careful in opening it. The product has very faint artificial fragrance and hence great for sensitive skin. There are no shimmer particles in it and hence it gives a matte look.
Coverage – the coverage is minimal because it is a translucent powder. It is only seen to giving a brightening and even look when there is a base i.e. foundation, BB or CC cream. The layer is even and gives a smooth look. It doesn’t cling onto dry patches or fine lines if you blend the base well.
Finish – the finish is flat matte look which is love. For oily skin, getting a soft matte is look is great. It reduces the appearances of pores to a great extent and gives the whole face a blurry smooth effect. It doesn’t look cakey or streak and extremely forgiving if you by mistake load up too much product. It feels light and natural on the skin. it also photographs really well and spells no white cast on face.
Staying power – it control oil up to 3 hours approximately in summers and after that my t-zone starts to become extremely shiny. Dry skin won’t require touch ups at all. Hence, I touch up a bit with a compact or blotting paper. I feel the oil control factor is low but the powder, overall, has a great effect in enhancing the skin.
OVERALL – the product is a totally value for money and has certain good points which makes me buy it again. A great setting powder for warm skin tones.
