How to remove sun tan

One of the health message that’s hard to ignore is – ‘When the skin gets tans, it is a sign of skin damage’!
Tanning not only changes color of your skin but it also responsible for hyperpigmentation. We all have heard this gazillion times that using sunscreen is necessary specially while stepping out but what we don’t know is the fact that even the best sunscreen in the market can’t save us from tanning. Well, tan must be a sassy ting to show-off in western countries, but in India we really struggle hard to get rid of it. Nowadays de-tanning can be done by chemicals bleaches and other products but there’s always a risk of skin damage in the long run.
That’s why we are here with super cool home remedies! All you have to do is raid your kitchen and find those mystical ingredients that would effectively remove your tan.

Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti) And Lemon
Fuller’s Earth is known as a potent ingredient for every skin problem. Lemon, on the other hand, is another important kitchen ingredient that is enriched in Vitamin C and consisting of natural bleaching properties. Together both the ingredients make an excellent face mask that is best choice for oily acne-prone skin type. It will help to reduce the tan by lightening the skin, also this mask is known to deep cleanse pores and tighten skin.
DIY MASK : Take 1 tbsp. of Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth) and add lemon juice to it to form the consistency of a semi-thick cream. Apply all over the face and neck and keep it for around 30mins. Once completely dry, wash it off with cold water and pat the skin dry. Apply aloe Vera gel to moisture and soothe the skin.
Yoghurt and Honey
Yoghurt is loaded with minerals and vitamins that nourish and hydrates skin. Yoghurt has zinc properties which is the best medicine when the skin is scorched in sun for longer duration. It has natural bleaching properties that helps to lighten the discolorations due to tanning. Lastly, the lactic acid in yogurt will help dissolve dead skin and tighten pores. Coming to the benefits of honey, is naturally moisturizing and the soothing properties helps in de-tanning as well. It adds a glow to the skin with regular usage by restoring the deepest layer of the skin. It is loaded with anti-oxidants that slows down the signs of aging like wrinkles, fine lines, etc. Both honey and yoghurt together help to repair skin damage by sun. Yogurt-Honey face mask is the perfect choice for the normal to dry skin types.
Take 2tbsp. of thick yoghurt (avoid the water) and add 2tsp. of honey to it. Stir the mixture well to form a semi-thick consistency. Apply the face mask (best if you can refrigerate it) and keep on the skin for 30mins. Wash off with cold water and pat the skin dry.
Milk Cream and Kesar (Saffron)
This face mask is the best choice for dry and sensitive skin people. Milk cream helps in lightening the skin with its phenomenal brightening and cleansing properties. Milk also soothes sunburn as it has cooling, moisturizing and skin-repairing properties. Kesar (Saffron) gives healthy radiance and glow to the skin and helps in preventing acne and blemishes. Both together can lighten tan and pigmentation with prolonged usage.
DIY MASK : Take 5-6strands of Saffron and submerge it in 2tbsp. of cold milk. In a clean bowl, add 1 ½ tbsp. mild cream and add the Saffron and milk. Stir the solution thoroughly to mix the goodness of Saffron with the mil cream. With the help of a face pack brush, apply all over the face and neck. Keep it for 30mins and rinse with water. Pat the skin dry.
Potato, Aloe Vera and Besan
Potato has certain elements with natural bleaching agent and can easily remove tan from your skin. It is very famous in removing pigmentation from skin as well. Potato is extremely effective anti-ageing beauty agent can also remove dead skin cells on the face. Besan is a popular ingredient for cleanses, lightening and moisturizing the skin naturally. It is also a great mild exfoliating agent for all skin types. Aloe Vera helps in soothing the sun burn and lightening the pigmentation. Together these three ingredients cure skin damage and makes your complexion flawless. This face pack is one on my top favorite face packs to remove sun tan.
DIY MASK : Grate 1potato and squeeze out the juice from it. Add 2tbsp of Besan (gram flour) and 1 tbsp. of aloe vera to it. Mix it thoroughly to form a thick consistency and apply on the face. Keep it for around 30mins and wash off with cold water.
Sandalwood Powder and Rose Water
Another magical ingredient is Sandalwood Powder! It is considered as one of the best face pack powder. The natural oils present in it effectively remove every layer of pigmentation. It has several anti-aging benefits for the skin as well. Sandalwood powder and rose water face pack is the epitome of goodness and has antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory and disinfectant properties. This face pack also contributes in making the skin soft and supple, adds glow, acts as an astringent, cleanses pores and regenerate skin cells.
DIY MASK: In a clean bowl, add 2tbsp of sandalwood powder and rose water to form a thick paste. Apply all over the face and neck and keep it for around 40mins. Once completely dry, wash it off with cold water and pat the skin dry. Apply aloe Vera gel to moisture and soothe the skin.
Scientifically speaking, tanning is a defense contrivance of our skin. When the skin is exposed to the UVB rays, the skin increases the production of melanin which in turn darkens our complexion in an uneven way leading to various skin problems. So never forget your sunblock when going out :-)
