Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick Tangy Tulip: Review, Swatches & LOTD
(Author ~ Sanchita)
Orange lip colors are my favorites and I love how it compliments my warm skin color. Generally it is go-to color nowadays and I love the playful sweet effect it gives. It neither looks stark nor subtle and perfect for any occasion. The lipstick which actually made me fall in love with orange is the Color Sensational Lipstick Tangy Tulip.
I have been wearing this color nonstop and here is my full review on it.
PRICE – $7.49 for 0.15 oz.
Packaging – The Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick comes in a beautiful rectangular body. The lipstick bullet is itself silver in color with the cap which is translucent purple. It has the same old twist up function that works smoothly and the lipstick is also light weight. The overall, packaging is rather sturdy and creates no fuss for storage at all. It isn’t overtly decorated but for a Rebel Bloom collection, I looks quite pretty. The shade name and number is written on the bottom.
Shade – The shade “Tangy Tulip” is a very pretty name and the color lives up to it. It is a subtle medium orange, which is leaning towards warm red slightly. The color is very pretty and would suit the fair to medium skin tones very well. It is like the perfect spring color one would be enticed to have. It has a subtleness in it and you can also wear this color for workplace or for a simple day out. The color is very close to NARS Geraldine which I had worn a year back.
Pigmentation – The pigmentation is not opaque. It gives around 60-70% of color pay off and it is buildable to medium. Although it can be a slight con for the product but I believe if the color would be pigmented, it would have more brightness to it and wouldn’t suit me. Therefore, I like the pigmentation. However, if you have discolored lips, you would need a concealer underneath or lip liner to cover that up.
Texture – The texture of Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick is smooth and goes on the lips like a dream. There is no tugging or pulling whatsoever. The consistency is light creamy and hydrates the lips very well. Although it does accentuates on dead skin cells but if you have exfoliated the lips well, it looks wonderful. It is very comfortable for dry lips. It has a sweet fruity and tangy kind of a smell but nothing nauseating or drastic. Overall, the texture is very beautiful and resembles the MAC Cremesheen Range.
Finish and Formula – I have always been a matte girl and I don’t know how I fell in love with something so glossy. It gives an even hydrating and glossy finish on the lips. The formula is good as it ill never feather or bleeding. However, there is transferring which is pretty normal for creamy lipsticks but nothing alarming.
Longevity – The colors lasted on my lips for around 4hours and the moment you would start having food, it starts to budge and fade. Therefore, the longevity depends a lot on food or fluid intake. However, I once wore the color underneath a pigmented orange lip liner and it stayed around for 6hours with minimal fading. The price point is affordable and also available on discount.
OVERALL – The Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick Tangy Tulip is housed inside a pretty purple packaging which is a subtle medium warm orange with a luminous sheen and medium coverage. The texture is creamy soft, light weight and glides easily and lasts for around 4 hours with a reasonable price tag.
