Lakme Absolute Shine Liquid Eye Liner Black : Review, EOTD & Swatches.
(Author ~ Sanchita)
Eyeliner is an absolute necessity. While the beauty world is raving about the felt tip eyeliners for precise line on the eyes, I am a bit old school and always stick to my brush eyeliners. Reason is, I have stated with this brush liner over the years and this is what I feel extremely comfortable to work with. I have been using the Lakme Insta Liner since school days but ever since the launch of the Lakme Absolute Shine Liquid Eye Liner, I am hooked on to this. This is surely one of my daily favorites and have exhausted quite a number of files.
This is time when I repurchased it again, I thought of reviewing the same. Read on to know more about the product.
PRICE – Rs. 350 for 4.5ml
Packaging – The Lakme Absolute Shine Liquid Eye Liner comes in a glossy steel black cylindrical tube with a screw cap that has the applicator attached to it. The packaging is very pretty I feel and I really love how light weight it is. It literally slips into anywhere and easy to store as well. The tube is so constructed that it is not going to dry out the liner even when you use it very rarely. The packaging is very thoughtful and decent for the price they are charging.
Applicator – Application of a liner is very important and if you have an amazing liner brush, consider that half the battle is won. One of the biggest reason I have stuck with this product is that the brush is of amazing quality and gives you that precise and thin liner for any cat of winged liner. In fact, I can create an easy wing in a hurry with this brush – it is that good! The bristles are soft and fairly long with the right amount of sturdiness and enables you to work with it smoothly. Even a beginner would love to use this brush.
Shade and Pigmentation – The Lakme Absolute Shine Liquid Eye Liner comes in 4 different shades but by far I have tried only the black one. The black one is the deep charcoal grey-black color with no hint of shimmer or glitter in it, which what most of the people would prefer. The pigmentation is really good. With a single swipe the richest color is deposited on the eyelids and it looks flawless. The pigmentation is opaque in two layers and would look really good even for a daily wear basis.
Texture and Finish – The consistency of the liner is between thick and runny – i.e. the perfect medium consistency which dries off extremely quick and easy. This is why there is a less chance of smearing on the eyelids. If you love a liner which dries off in a jiff, this is the right pick for you. Coming to the finish, it could be misleading if you are going by its name. The liner is nowhere shiny from any angle and in fact, it is the best matte liner what I would like to say. I don’t know why the brand forgot to tell this on the description but this is how it is. The only complain I have with the texture is that, if you have going with too many layers, the liner starts to crack up a little after few hours. This is nothing dramatic but a minor glitch to a near-perfect product.
Formula – The formula of the liner is water resistant to large extent. If you splash water on the face or use a facial mist, it won’t budge or anything. However, if you rub vigorously with water, you might this the liner fading off. The liner is also smudge proof but only cracks up a little after few hours of wear time.
Longevity – As I have mentioned earlier that I have been wearing this daily for a couple of years, I can affirm that the liner stays long. It stays for about 6hours during hot summer months on my oily eyelids and in winter the wear time is slightly extended. If I ever plan to wear this liner for any event where I want it to stay the whole day, I apply a base of gel liner underneath and apply this liner on it. As a result the liner stays for the whole time. The removal is extremely easy as any kind of eye makeup remover wipes it off effectively.
OVERALL – The Lakme Absolute Shine Liquid Eye Liner in Black is a charcoal grey-black color with rich pigmentation and a medium consistency that applies very well with the help of ana mazing applicator brush that helps you to draw the precise line. The finish is flat matte with a water resistant and smudge proof formula that stays very well on the eyes.
