Lakme 9 to 5 Coffee Lite Weightless Matte Lip and Cheek Color in Coffee Lite Review
When Lakme first introduced Weightless Matte Lip and Cheek Color, my first reaction was it is as good as my Miss Claire Lip Cream. Therefore, I had no intention to buy it. However, there were the two shades – Coffee Lite and Burgundy Lush that stole my attention. Therefore, when the sale season started I couldn’t resist from purchasing and ended up buying these two colors. Ever since I got this particular color, Coffee Lite, I simply couldn’t stop wearing it. Read on to know my detailed review on the same.

PRICE – Rs.575 for 9gms
Packaging – The packaging is the Lakme 9 to 5 products are also in rose gold and stunning in its own way. The Weightless Matte Lip and Cheek Color comes in a long cylindrical bottle with an opaque body and golden screw cap. The packaging is light weight, sturdy and travel friendly. The shade name is written on the bottom of the tube. The cardboard packaging is good and has all the necessary information written on it.
Applicator – The applicator brush is attached to the screw cap. It has a very beautiful wand structure with a pointy tip and perforated body. The shape is in the form of a tear drop and gives you the precise application. The pointy end is great for doing the edges and corners and spreads the color well on the lips. Overall, this applicator is much better than the doe-footed one I have used so far.
Shade – The shade Coffee Lite falls under the MLBB category but is a heavenly color. It is a taupe brown with mauve undertones. There is no shimmer, thankfully! The color is my go-to color for daytime, office and any other formal occasion. It is one of those MLBB color which stands out without making you look pale or bold. The color leans of the neutral side for dusky to deeper skin tones while for fair to medium ski tone, the color is more of a mauve-brown. As a cheek color, it blends in to give a mauve kind of shade. The color could be like a natural earthy color for medium to deeper skin tones.
Pigmentation – The pigmentation of the color is really good and in a single swipe, you get the desired color. It gives the rich color on the lips and also effectively hides the minor discolorations on the lips. Thus, you can skip the lip liner if you want. Honestly, I only use a lip liner with this when I have ample amount of time or I want my lips to look fuller. The pigmentation looks good on the cheeks as well. It goes on well and gives you the right amount of color. I would say, start will few dots and then slowly build up the color. This is because the color sets quickly and would be tougher to control later.
Texture – The consistency is like creamy mousse with an air light touch. The consistency surely goes well with the name of the product. The weightless formula can easily be identified when you apply and it literally feels nothing. The lip cream is great for daily wear and gives you the perfect formula. The lips need to prep well with scrubbing and will not fare well with dry lips. It has the tendency to accumulate and cling onto dry patches so hydrate the lips well. Nevertheless, it is not as drying as several liquid lipsticks I have used. As a blush, the texture is good but you have to work very quickly. It sets and thus needs to be blended before drying out. I don’t reach out for this for my cheeks often but if you are comfortable with creamy blushes, you might find them helpful. Also, if you have applied too much, blend with a sponge to lighten the color to save the day.
Finish – The finish of the lip color is powdery matte. It is one of the most comfortable matte finish and any given day, I would prefer this texture over liquid lipsticks. The lips feel comfortable and looks very natural. The color doesn’t bleed or feather at all. The transfer is there but very nominal and negligible.
Longevity – The color remained on my lips for around 4-5hrs and the removal depends a lot on the food and fluid intake. It has the tendency to get removed from the centre of the lips and needs a touch up after food. For the cheeks, I found the staying power is pretty much all day long with minimal fading. Although, I doubt how long it will last with summer approaching and my oily skin has its own mind.
