Lakme 9 To 5 Primer+Matte Lipstick MP18 Plum Pick Review

Lakme 9 To 5 Primer+Matte Lipstick MP18 Plum Pick : Review, Swatches & LOTD

Hello everyone!

Lakme has launched another version of regular 9 To 5 lipsticks under the range of Primer+Matte. I picked up the shade MP18 Plum Pick and here’s my review on the same.

PRICE – Rs. 480 for 3.6gm

MY REVIEW

Packaging – I always find the Lakme 9 To 5 packaging enticing. It comes in a beautiful chrome rose-gold color with the range name written on the body. The cardboard casing holds all the information about the product.  The shade name and number is written on the bottom but very small. In case, you own few lipsticks, it will be difficult to choose. The lipstick has a twist up function and overall, travel-friendly and light weight.

Shade – The shade Plum Pick is a mix of plum and fuchsia pink without any glitter or shimmer. The shade will suit fair to dusky skin tones very well but personally I feel, medium/olive skin tones will rock this color like nobody’s business. The color is neither too bright nor subtle and looks wonderful on my NC42 skin tone.

Pigmentation – The pigmentation of the color is really good. Single swipe deposits a lot of color and two swipes are good enough for an opaque layer on the lips. Lip liner is not a heavy requirement with this color at all.

Texture and Finish – The texture of the lipstick is much better than the previous Lakme 9 To 5. It goes on smoothly on the lips and it is quite forgiving for dry lips I believe. However, to give a neat look, exfoliate the lips prior application. It doesn’t accentuate the fine lines at all. It feels comfortable all day long. The lipstick doesn’t have the tendency to bleed as well. Initially, it has a satin kind of finish and after sometime, it settles down to a soft matte finish with almost no shine at all. To remove the initial shine, you can use a blotting paper or tissue. Overall, the texture is really wonderful, light weight and comfortable.

Formula – The lipstick is not completely transfer proof. It does transfer to cups and straws but nothing obnoxious. It does not feather or bleed on lips and looks quite neat. I like the easy going hydrating formula on the lips and perfect for any occasion.

Staying Power – The lipstick claims to have 12hrs, which, by all means, is exaggerated. It stayed on my lips for around 6hrs or so and then I have seen the color fading slightly. Also, food and fluid intake makes the colour disappear from the centre slightly and depends how carefully you eat or drink. The staying power is slightly increased with lip liner underneath. Overall, the longevity is good but nothing like 12hrs.

OVERALL – The Lakme 9 To 5 Primer+Matte Lipstick Plum Pick is a gorgeous mix of plum and fuchsia pink in a beautiful rose gold packaging. It has a really good intense color pay off and soft, smooth and light weight texture to begin with. It gives a soft matte finish and transfers slightly with a staying power of around 5-6hrs.
