My thoughts ?
The hunt for a rosy pink lipstick that had the “your lips, but just better” shade is finally over. You know how much I love my L’oreal Color Richie in Velvet Rose and I really wanted something similar. I went to the store having read the blogs and concluding that Elusive was the one for me. After the SA tried Elusive on me, I couldn’t stop myself from buying this pretty rose pink shade. It just brightened up my entire face and my teeth looked amazing too :D
I love the way it felt minty and cooling on my lips as soon as I applied it. It glides on easily and one swipe of the stick puts down color that lasts for several hours.
Color / Shade :
Although I own a handful of cool-toned pinks (not that many though) Revlon Matte Elusive is different in color than the rest. That’s great news because I dislike having repeats. A pretty light cool-toned rose pink shade, that can be a perfect everyday pink shade for me.
Revlon Elusive’s amazing lasting power comes purely from its matte finish. It lasts for good 5 to 6 hours and leaves a natural pink tint on lips. Reapplication is needed after meals or drinks.
BnB Tip : After applying lipstick, blot it with a tissue and apply a new layer. This will absorb the oil and make it last longer.
The texture is soft, smooth and doesn’t tug or pull my lips like most of the matte lipsticks. If you feel that it doesn’t apply as perfectly and evenly as you expect a matte formula to do, exfoliate and moisturise your lips well before applying this balm. My lips are pretty dry these days, but with a little chapstick first, then the matte balm, they look wonderful.
Formula and Finish :
This has a complete matte finish, which I really loved. Matte lipcolors can show any improperness of your lips like dry bits, flakiness or fines lines but not this one. The formula is very hydrating, after an hour your lips feel hydrated and soft. You get soft baby lips even after the lipcolor wears off.
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm is in a twist up tube with a matte silver end cap. The colour of the tube corresponds to the lipcolor inside. Furthermore, it is easy to dispense by twisting the bottom cap of the balm.
Color Payoff / Pigmentation :
It does light up your whole face, but in a calmer and more measured way. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a dainty color and definitely says, “Hey look at my pink doll lips” . This lovely pink , blue undertone lippie will look flattering on most of the skin tones. One or two swipes gets you opaque coverage on your lips as its a very pigmented color.
Revlon Elusive on different Skin tones ?
- Pale – Just one swipe of Elusive looks great
- Fair/Light – one or two swipes
- Medium – three swipes and a light pink gloss
- Dark – two / three swipes and a brow / dark pink gloss looks beautiful
