MAC Paint Pot in Painterly review
MAC Paint Pots are some of my favorite formulas in the makeup world. You can get so many nice neutral eye colors in this range. Eye shadow in cream form is pretty much always a winner with me, maybe it’s just because of my inner child or maybe my makeup skills. :-)
The product I want to share with you today have already been featured in one of my post in the past.
Price : USA – $21, India – INR 1450, UK – £15.50

My Thoughts ?
MAC Painterly Paint Pot is a cool-toned creme matte finished nude cream eye shadow that works as a base or primer for power eye shadows. It has incredibly amazing staying power and gives great vibrancy to whatever you layer over the top.
MAC paint pot in painterly on it’s own makes my lids look pretty and even, like skin without any dark shadowy tinge or redness.Let me also tell you that if your skin has yellow undertones you can go for soft ochre which will give you same finish. But compared to other paint pots Painterly does the brilliant job of intensifying the colors of eyeshadows.
I apply this all over my lids before eyeshadow, and my colors appear much more brighter and smoother. It works with my higher end makeup and also with my drugstore eye makeup. And yes, if you set it properly, it doesn’t crease at all. I’ve gone a full 10 hours with my eyeshadow looking exactly the same as it was when freshly applied. I use it every single day, regardless of whether or not I’m doing a heavy glittery eye makeup look. For natural days, I use this under an eyeshadow color that’s matches my skin tone, and it prevents my eyelids from getting oily throughout the day.
How I wear it :
I buff this cream color all over my eyelids from lash line to brow bone with sigma eyeshadow blending brush ( a concealer brush or any fluffy brush can also be used ). It’s a shade or two lighter than my skin tone but it still looks very natural after properly blending. For reference I’m NC 30 in MAC. I then sweep a neutral matte eyeshadow that matches my natural skin tone to set the cream base – you can skip this step and directly apply your favorite eyeshadow on top. If you have super oily eyelids you can apply primer before painterly.
About Color/ Shade :
Shade wise MAC website describes painterly as nude beige color. It is a matte finish and has no shimmer or glitter. If you have pale skin with cooler undertones it will beautifully blend and will give you a skin like base. But it also looks great on warm skin tones if blended properly. Soft-Ochre looks better on warm skin tones. I chose this color over other paint pots because I wanted a pink base to brighten up my eye region. I haven’t tried many eyeshadow bases or primers, just some nyx jumbo pencils & Victoria secret primer.
Packaging : All the paint pots come in a glass jar packaging which has some hidden terrific cuteness. But it is not at all sanitary / hygienic, and I’m quite afraid that it may dry up before I hit the bottom of this glass jar, just like my MAC black track gel liner.
Texture / Formula : The texture feels creamy and buttery soft making it easy to blend. It has light, comfortable and dry formula, which is great since I hate heavy products on my eyes. You have to work very fast before it dries out.
Pigmentation / Coverage : A little goes a long way and even one swipe can hide all your imperfections on eye lids. Two layers can totally conceal the area. It is crazy pigmented, super blendable and two swipes are enough to cover any kind of discoloration on eyelids.
Finish : It has intense matte finish which is why any type of eyeshadow looks great with it .
Staying Power : You can say good bye to primers forever, since MAC paint pots do excellent job of holding eyeshadow. On its own MAC painterly stays on my lids for 10 hrs and can last more it I set it with powder.
Summary –
- BnB Expert Tip : 1) The jar needs to be stored upside-down to stay creamy.
2) You can use your finger and sweep it across eye lid. When putting on eye shadow press it in, do not sweep but press it in. - Product Name : MAC Paint Pot in Painterly

Incredibly impressive, in my opinion.
