MY REVIEW ON HIMALAYA ANTI-DANDRUFF HAIR CREAM –
The Himalaya Anti-Dandruff Hair Cream comes in a round white tub with the green screw cap. Although I would have preferred a tube which is much convenient to travel with, the tub does perform well in terms of packaging. It is easy to use, especially when you’re in a hurry. The product has a very similar smell to the oil but slightly less overpowering. It smells of menthol and tea tree oil which I find it to be soothing and not nauseous.
Coming to the texture, the cream has very smooth and velvety to touch almost like butter. It is rich is various ingredients like tea tree oil and lemon, which are common home remedies for dandruff and this is what exactly the hair cream is tailored for. Due to its rich texture, it also acts like a cream-oil sort of when you apply to the scalp. The direction states that it needs to be applied before and after hair wash but it you apply it after shampoo, it will make you hair extremely greasy and incredibly oily. Hence, I only apply this before shampoo.
During the mid-week hair wash, I hardly get the time to oil the hair and keeping it overnight and hence use the shortest method of hair cream. I apply this cream generously on the scalp and massage it for around 15-20mins. I let the ingredients soak into the hair and scalp for an hour or two and wash off. I find the cream is easier to work with than the oil, for obvious reasons. The cream works very well for the scalp. It helps in keeping the dry scalp nourished and also the dandruff problem at bay.
The tea tree oil in this product helps from itchiness, dryness and discomfort. It eliminates agents existing on the scalp that cause the skin to flake. You can also apply the cream from root to tips and I have seen the product nourishing it thoroughly. Nevertheless, there is a catch with this product. It will only work on your hair as long as you keep on applying it. It also doesn’t have much effectiveness in terms of dandruff control but gives a temporary result.
Himalaya is supposed to be an herbal brand but it is really disappointing to see the inclusion on parabens in it.
Overall, I find it reasonable and effective as it really does work on eradicating dandruff problems.
