Faces Ultime Pro Velvet Matte Lipstick – I Do Review

(Author ~ Sanchita)

My 2016 started with pink lipsticks and ever since that I have been happy-hunting pink lipsticks from every possible brand. Every girl has their own version of pink that they stick to and so do I. My version would be the tea rose pink or a muted brown pink for everyday wear. This is a kind of color that gives your lips some color without going MLBB all over.

Matte/satin-matte is the formula I always stick too as I hate shiny glossy touch on the lips. My quest of ‘perfect’ matte pink led me to the Faces Canada Ultime Pro Velvet Matte range from where I have picked up the shade #11 I Do and this is ne newest lipstick crush.

Let’s get on to the details and review now.

PRICE – Rs. 649/- for 4.5gms

Packaging – the Faces Canada Ultime Pro Velvet Matte is the latest addition to their range of lipsticks and I found the packaging pretty decent. It comes in a sleek and matte black packaging with the silver ring around it. It has the typical twist up mechanical formula and the bullet fittingly goes inside the cylindrical tube and the cap also shuts properly. The lipstick might be lightweight but is conveniently sturdy to carry around with you. The shade name and number has been written in the bottom for accessibility. There is actually nothing to complain about packaging but I did expected it to be a little bit glorious.

– the shade is a muted milky rose pink with brown undertones. A very uncommon color but extremely pretty. It has no shimmer or frost touch whatsoever and a great shade to be worn for everyday wear. The special recommendation would be light to medium skin tones but not for dusky beauties because the ‘milky pink’ may look a tab bit washed out. If you want to dominate the ‘pink’ of the color, I would suggest to layer it with a nude brown lip liner underneath. A highly recommended shade for soft pink lovers to flaunt the pretty pink pout.

Texture the texture reminds me a lot about the Colorbar Velvet Matte range but I would say that the Faces one is an updated version. The texture is creamy soft and glides of the lips like a dream. It settles down to a comfortable satin matte finish without any sheen or glossy touch. You can also apply with a lip brush but then you have to layer it. Since it is creamy and smooth, you don’t need lip balm but you surely do need properly exfoliated lips. Since it has satin matte finish, it tends to accentuates to fine lines once it dries up a little. For this reason, the texture is unforgiving to chapped and dry lips. However, if you apply on well-scrubbed lips, it will not dry out the lips and keep it moisturized throughout the day.

Pigmentation – the pigmentation is again a stud! I need simply two layers to get that even look on the lips with flush of color. Even though the color is soft and light, it hides my pigmentation on the lips. The color doesn’t need any lip liner but if you pair it with one, it will surely enhance the lips. It doesn’t bleed but does transfer a little to cups and spoons. I have noticed a weird thing about the formula is that, when apply on the lips, do not press the lips together (normally what we do with creamy bullet lipsticks) because it removes the color and looks uneven and patchy.

Staying Power – the color has a nice longevity of around 5-6hours with small munching and drinks. It never disappears completely from the lips and leaves a pink-brown stain and only fades from the lower lips. To elongate the staying power, you can use lip liners as well.

OVERALL – a very pretty pink with a satin matte formula, nondrying texture and long wearing lip color which is perfect for everyday wear.

Beautyndbest.com Editor Shreya says “Such a pretty lip-swatch and fabulous review by Sanchita. Personally I prefer lipsticks with hydrating properties. I recently tried FACES new Ultime Pro Lip Crayons and they are extremely drying as well. This lipcolor is very lovely but I wish FACES comes out with better formulas for dry lip beauties.”
