If you thought just applying foundation correctly would make you look flawless, think again. Foundation is just the base that evens out the skin tone. But the only way to bring out those beautiful features on your face would be applying the correct blusher, highlighter, and contour. It makes your features look chiseled, highlights the high points and adds a flush to the cheeks. And when you can get all three sculpting products in a single kit – it is definitely an eye-catcher. Today’s review would be the Rimmel Kate Sculpting Cosmetic Set. Let us have a look at the pictures, swatches and detailed experience.

EXPERIENCE –

Packaging – Rimmel Kate Sculpting Cosmetic Set has a very pretty, clear lid packaging. It has a rectangular shape, with two vertical sides are rounded and the overall shape and divisions are copper lined. It gives a beautiful look to the simple packaging. Although the shades can be easily seen, the name and step by step instructions and picture guide are nicely printed on the back of the product. However, no mirror or applicator has been provided. The product is lightweight, travel-friendly and compact.

Application – The highlighter is meant to be applied on the high points of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the forehead, brow bone, inner portion of the eyes and Cupid’s bow. The blusher, obviously, has to be applied on the apple of the cheeks. The contour powder is meant for hollows of the cheeks, below the hairline at the top of your forehead to make it look smaller, either sides of the nose and jawline. Although it says ‘sculpting kit’, but makeup products are easily customized. You can also use either of the products for eye makeup as well.

Shade – 002 Coral Glow (Best suitable for NC20-30)

Blush – The blush is very close to the name of the shade. It is a beautiful peachy-coral color with neutral undertones. It is a matte blush but it doesn’t come across as a chalky one. And hence, the color gives a certain natural flush to the cheeks. The blush is not very pigmented. Thus, the blusher is forgiving if you also accidentally applied more than necessary. The texture is soft and blends well on the skin. The shade is light and hence it is well suitable for light to fair skin tones mostly. Fair-medium skin tones can also give it a try with natural makeup look.

Highlighter – The highlighter is a warm champagne color with subtle touch to it. This is not a highlighter for a full glamorous look. On the other hand, it is more suitable for a daytime look or when you want a subtle glow on the skin with the office-wear. It gives a pale sheen to the skin without chunky glitter look. Once again, the texture is smooth, creamy and soft. Hence, the highlighter blends beautifully on the skin without emphasizing dry patches. The color is well suitable for light, fair and fair-medium skin tones.

Contour – The contour in this palette is of a matte brown color with neutral undertones. Thus, it is neither very orangey nor greyish and has the perfect balance to cater the needs of skin tones ranging between NC20-30. It is not completely matte—consists of a very subtle sheen. The contour is also easy to blend and doesn’t have any chalkiness or tends to look patchy. The pigmentation is good but needs to be built.

Longevity – The one drawback which cannot be ignored is that the product lack in longevity. The highlighter is subtle and hence it only leaves behind a faded sheen on the skin and definitely not a highlighter one would consider applying for evening occasions. For the contour shade, you really need to work on it to make it last longer. The blush is good although it does fade off but not entirely. However, judging the average longevity of the combined products, this is definitely not a long lasting product.

OVERALL – Rimmel Kate Sculpting Cosmetic Set (002 Coral Glow) is a nice, compact kit for blush, contour and highlight with soft creamy-powdery texture and blends impeccably. The pigmentation can be surmised as good to buildable and the lasting power is average. The price tag is economical and the particular shade would be best suitable for skin tones between NC20-30
