Ole Henriksen Vitamin C Serum Review

Product Review

You must have read beauty experts raving about the usage of Vitamin C and to necessitate its inclusion in your beauty regime to achieve a youthful glow. It stimulates collagen that provides structure and elasticity to the skin.

The packaging looks aesthetic and feels luxe to hold with convenient functionality. The serum comes in a cylindrical bottle—bright matte orange and white. There is a pump to dispense the product which helps you to regulate the easy flow (considering you don’t need too much). All in all, it is a travel-friendly and fuss-free packaging.

The product has a thin silky texture with a slight shine and beautiful yellow hue. The consistency is fluid, extremely lightweight and hence, it gets absorbed into the skin like a dream. The serum would impart a healthy glow to your skin. Previously, my skin was heavily laden with uneven texture and spots from breakouts. No amount of prescribed and non-prescribed medicines worked. However, having used the product, I noticed a remarkable reduction of hyperpigmentation from acne scarring. The skin looks bright and even with regular usage.

Application – I generally use the serum in the morning and night post cleansing ritual and follow it up with the moisturizer. If you are stepping out during the daytime, make sure you apply a generous layer of sunscreen fifteen minutes prior because Vitamin C makes the skin sensitive to sunlight. Also, works well underneath makeup as well if you wish to apply.

It heals the skin and makes it soft and supple. The ingredient list includes HA which give you a plump and hydrated look. Apart from that, what I found impressive was the inclusion of 5% PHA (Polyhdroxy Acids) which is the gentlest chemical exfoliants of all. If you have sensitive skin and cannot stand AHAs and BHAs (a slightly stronger exfoliants for acne) this product is for you. That is why you will notice no peeling of the skin at all.

It contains 15% L-Ascorbic acid, which is s form of vitamin C. At this potency, you might experience a tingling or reddening of the skin. Because vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, it works to neutralise the free radicals caused by environmental damage which ulitmately cause the skin to age prematurely. Vitamin C is also the major ingredient used in treatments to reduce pigmentation issues caused by sun exposure (such as sun spots). It also encourages natural collagen production.

Combined with 5% PHAs (Polyhydroxy Acids)
(which is essentially A plumper alternative to AHAs ), the vitamin C in this serum provides excellent source to build natural firmness. The serum is free from silicones, so it absorbs almost instantly. The skin is essentially absorbing its vitamins (but I still use a topical sunscreen).

The Hyaluronic Acid in the serum stabilises the other two ingredients and doubles the moisturizing efficacy of the serum.

What The Editor Says

I used this product for seven days. I was a little apprehensive to try a new vitamin c serum as I really like the one I was currently using. I tried it and actually liked it just as much if not more than the DE vitamin C serum I use now. It had a nice citrus smell that was wonderful to smell while getting ready in the am. My skin definitely glows and feels bouncier. As others stated it is a little tacky but once I put my lotion over it and prime my face fit make up it’s fine. My make up goes over it nicely (I even forgot primer one day in a hurry and by the end of the day my face still looked great). I will definitely continue to use it.
